Fear Factory - Replica and Linchpin
Pain - Zombie Slam

These videos gave me inspiration for the performance aspect of our video, for example in 'replica' the artist look straight into the camera aggressivly, his movement also portrays his character which is what I tried to do while performing. The artist point's at the camera, opens his arms and uses lots of exaggerated movements like i tried to do in my music video. This video also features a dead body in a tube/lying on something,  we used a dead body in our narrative also.

The performance section in this video inspired us to shoot our performance sections in the studio, I liked the idea of the close ups/extreme close ups of the artist singing the lyrrics. We did various close ups like this, however developed this further, instead of just having still shots we moved the camera, and gave a full perfromance, intead of just the face.

We developed the idea of the Death Stars narrative, it consists of a woman in a hospital bed getting poisioned and in pain, our narrative is similar however more gory being a man getting slaughtered by a priest.

NARRATIVE AND PERFORMANCE:

For our music video we decided to mix perfromance with narrative as I thought this would be the most interesting to watch for the viewer and from research into the genre all of the video has a mix of narrative and performance. We wanted to relate our lyrics to the narrative, I researched many music videos and studied the performance and narrative aspects of the videos. Conevtions of the narrative in my genre where dark gloomy narrrative, perhaps about murder or just wierd/interesting imagery. We took ideas from many video's however also tried to develop the forms of the narrative's in our genre by making the storyline more real life instead of unimagunable random storylines as seen in videos such as Death Stars - Cyanide, Stabbing Westward Save Yourself and Beautiful people - Marilyn Manson. Our storyline was based on a real life sutiuation however then sticks to the conventions at the end of the video by adding a weird murder scene. We definatly developed the narrative section by adding a mix of real life to fiction storyline.

We used some aspects of this video and encouperated it into ours. For example this video links the narrative and performance very well, the first scene especially where the main character is singing and then he has a flashback (narrative) where he is talking to a boy in a black and white/grey colour scheme, this follows throughout the video and we used this concept. Our video is of the main character performing and then has flahback to his past. We also used some of the performance aspects of this video, such as perfroming in open spaces and forests as we did in our music video.

We also used aspects of preformance from 'Linchpin' for example the scenes of me in the studio where inspired by scenes from Linchpin eg the scenes of the guy swinging his wet hair, we also wet my hair, we thought this fitted with the genre, however we developed this by using more movement and angles, and also lipsyncing to the song in the studio.

OFFICERS X GARY NUMAN - PETALS

We also developed the idea of the narrative in the video 'petals', it featured a man getting operated on while awake with fake blood and guts ect. We thought we could put a twist on this and have the priest in our narrative murder me instead of operate on me while i was awake. We thought this would fit better with the tone of our song and also would add an interesting element to our video.
